So it finally happened

Tonight on the way home from dance Grace asked me if there was a Santa Claus. She went on to say that she found the wrapping paper that Santa used for presents last year but didn't want to say anything. So like I have been doing for the past year I replied, "Well what do you believe?"

"I don't know!"

Silence

"Well do you believe in the spirit of Santa Claus? Giving and receiving gifts from people you love to celebrate Jesus' birth?"

"Yes but I don't know!"

More silence.

"Where do you think the gifts come from?"

"I don't know. You and daddy (said real quiet)?"

More silence and with a smile on my face.

"Yes Grace. Daddy and I are Santa Claus."

"I was wondering but I was afraid to ask. I thought you would be mad that I found the paper."

"YOu have been wondering for awhile haven't you? You were afraid not to believe."

"Yes. And you always just asked me what I believed when I asked."

So its out there now. We then talked about how she couldn't tell her brother and her cousins. That if people in her class still believed she couldn't tell them. That everyone finds out in their own time. I then told her how I found out. She then asked about the tooth fairy and Easter Bunny. We talked more about still believing in the spirit of Santa and that is fun. She wasn't upset so that was good. One of my friend's daughters yelled at her for lying to her all the years! YIKES!

She is just growing up so fast!

Its beginning to look alot like Christmas!
